The Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 38 of 2001 (FICA), came into effect on 1 July 2003. FICA was introduced to fight financial crime, such as money laundering, tax evasion, and terrorist financing activities.
What are FICA documents?
Original copy of a:
- Valid South Africa Identification Document or a valid unexpired passport in the case of a foreign national.
- Proof of Residential Address (not older than three months), for example, a utility bill such as a water and electricity bill, a telephone bill, a current lease agreement or a bank statement. The document must reflect the logo, the details of the individual and exact address the individual captured when the trading account was opened.
